Bou and Busto to break the tie in Clermont-Ferrand

The third event of the season debuts a new venue and will determine the Championship leader

Clermont-Ferrand will host a round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship for the first time this Friday, promising an electrifying evening starting at 8:00 PM at the Zenith d’Auvergne.

Eighteen-time World Champion Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) and Jaime Busto (GasGas), a two-time World Championship runner-up, arrive tied in points for the second round of the season in France. Busto claimed victory in Madrid, with Bou taking second place, while the roles reversed during the Championship stop in Chambéry. Both riders currently sit at 35 points each.

The third contender is Adam Raga (Sherco), who is in his farewell season and has already secured two consecutive finals appearances and a podium finish. He holds three points more than Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team), currently in fourth place in the Championship standings. Marcelli faced a challenging opener in Madrid but redeemed himself in Chambéry by claiming third on the podium, narrowly missing second place by just one point.

French rider Benoit Bincaz (Sherco) aims to return to the final after missing out last week, with hopes of competing for a Top 3 finish, as he did in Madrid. Grattarola (Beta) makes his return after a less-than-stellar 2024, where he failed to shine following a fourth-place finish at the opening round in Barcelona. Meanwhile, young talents Dufrese (Beta) and Green (Scorpa) continue their development in the demanding and spectacular discipline of X-Trial.

The competition will take place in a venue recognized by the French Ministry of Culture, which has hosted a variety of sporting events, including the Davis Cup and the Paris-Dakar rally kickoff, as well as concerts by global stars like Lenny Kravitz, Bob Dylan, Scorpions, Mark Knopfler, and Ed Sheeran.
