The French city debuts in the World Championship as the stage for the Spaniard's 19th world title
Next Saturday, March 22, starting at 8:00 PM, Cahors and its Parc des Expositions will make their debut as the venue for a round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship. It will be a historic night, as Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) is set to write yet another golden chapter in the history of motorcycle sports by mathematically securing what will be his 19th title in this discipline.
After analyzing all possible outcome combinations between Toni Bou and Jaime Busto (GasGas) and considering that riders can discard their worst result in the Championship standings, Toni only needs 2 points—the equivalent of a seventh-place finish—to secure the title.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team) continues his pursuit of his first career victory in the Championship. He arrives in Cahors with four podium finishes under his belt, including three third-place finishes and a runner-up result.
Benoit Bincaz (Sherco), the only other rider to have competed in every round this season, aims to qualify for his fourth final after making it in Madrid, Clermont-Ferrand, and Barcelona. He will be fighting for a podium finish in front of his home crowd. Jack Peace (Sherco), who narrowly missed the final in Wiener Neustadt, is also determined to break into the top four, after coming so close in Austria.
Meanwhile, Hugo Dufrese (Beta) will be looking to improve on his two seventh-place finishes in 2025. Sondre Haga (GasGas) is set to return, eager to prove the effectiveness of electric propulsion, while Arnau Farré (Sherco) makes his comeback to the world stage after seven years, ready to show that he belongs among the sport’s elite.
All of them will be striving for the best possible result in this historic first-ever Cahors round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship. The city has hosted various trial-related events in the past, but now it will officially join the list of prestigious venues for the Championship.
