Mats Nilsen and Alex Canales make their Championship debut, while Haga returns for the Norwegian city's first-ever world event
Next Saturday, February 8th, the Stavanger’s DBN Arena will debut as a host venue and set the stage for the debut of young riders Mats Nilsen (TRRS) and Alex Canales (Montesa) in the FIM X-Trial World Championship.
The 20-year-old Spaniard, recently signed by Montesa, has already showcased his talent in the previous Trial2 World Championship after standing out in the 125cc category. Meanwhile, Nilsen is another promising talent emerging from Norway’s growing trial scene. He competes in the Trial2 category and will make his Indoor World Championship debut in front of his home crowd.
But Nilsen won’t be the only Norwegian competing in Stavanger. Sondre Haga (GasGas) returns to the Championship after being in the opening round in Madrid, where he finished sixth. His international career has played a key role in bringing the FIM X-Trial World Championship to his home country.
These three riders will be joined by Matteo Grattarola (Beta), who recently competed in Clermont-Ferrand and Barcelona, along with Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team), Jaime Busto (GasGas), Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team), and Benoit Bincaz (Sherco).
Meanwhile, the second round of the FIM X-Trial Women’s Trophy will feature six participants, as Huldeborg Barkved joins Spain’s Berta Abellán (Scorpa), Italy’s Andrea Sofia Rabino (Beta), France’s Naomi Monnier (Montesa), Britain’s Alice Minta (Beta), and the Czech Republic’s Denisa Pechakova (TRRS), all of whom competed in the Barcelona round last Sunday. Stavanger is set to deliver excitement and fresh faces.
