X-Trial arrives in Switzerland for the first time in twelve years
This coming Saturday from at 20:00 local time, X-Trial returns to Swiss city Geneva.
The fourth Round of the 2024 World Championship season is the first X-Trial Geneva since 2012. Back then, Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) was victorious ahead of Albert Cabestany, now GasGas team manager, and current Repsol Honda Trial boss Takahisa Fujinami.
Although twelve years have passed, Bou remains as dominant as ever, winning all four Rounds of this season so far. But his closest rivals, the likes of his teammate Gabriel Marcelli and former teammate Jaime Busto – now with GasGas – had not yet made their debuts when the series last visited the city.
Host venue the Geneva Arena is located just 11 kilometres from the FIM headquarters in Mies, making this a special event for the sport’s governing body who celebrate their 120th anniversary this year.
Meanwhile this event will make history with the first electric machinery set to compete in the X-Trial World Championship. Gaël Chatagno and French manufacturer Electric Motion will line up with their ePure Race model, powered by a 1875WH lithium battery and a 600NM engine, with a mechanical clutch that allows revs to be raised while freewheeling.
Local rider Noé Pretalli will also make his X-Trial debut for GasGas, joining six riders who have taken part in the three Rounds in 2024 to date.
The course in the Geneva Arena will comprise five Sections in Round One, four in the second and six Sections in the Final.
X-Trial Geneva sends the World Championship into its summer break, before our return for X-Trial Andorra la Vella on 5th October.
