Luca Petrella made his X-Trial debut at the final Round of the 2018 campaign in Budapest, and he finished only four marks away from an upset with seventh place on the night.  Buoyed by a move to Beta for 2019, the Italian made four further outings, enough to finish eighth overall.  His only subsequent appearance was as a substitute for fellow countryman Matteo Grattarola in the final Round of the 2023 season.
