Miquel Gelabert produced one of the sport’s most stunning rookie seasons when, just three Rounds in to his X-Trial career, he finished second to Toni Bou at X-Trial Strasbourg. His only podium since was credited to him after the 2019 season following a rival’s disqualification; Gelabert again finished the year world number five. He subsequently dropped down the rankings, made just one appearance in 2022 and took a sabbatical in 2023. But he made his comeback at the final two X-Trial Rounds last year and was a podium contender with sixth in Tallinn and fourth in Pamplona.
