Recognised by France’s Ministry for Culture, the Zénith d’Auvergne is the third biggest arena of its kind in France. It forms part of the Grande Halle d’Auvergne showground.
In its various configurations it has a capacity of between 6,000 and 9,400 spectators. Its design and outdoor spaces mean its architecture is a perfect fit for the region’s landscape.
Construction started in 2001 with a design based on the shape of a volcano, a symbol of the region. It was inaugurated with a Johnny Hallyday concert on 5th December 2003.
Lenny Kravitz, Bob Dylan, the Scorpions, Mark Knopfler and Ed Sheeran are among the artists and groups who have performed at the venue. It has also hosted Davis Cup tennis and, in 2004, the start of the Paris-Dakar.
